![]() Chalford is full of art and creativity. The 9th and 10th of May and the 16th/17th May show that art and creativity off to its best with Open Studios and the Stroud International Textile Festival. Last weekend Debbie visited the studio of Penel Kirk on Chalford High Street to see her work. The Unicorn took pride of place, amongst other works of flowers, fairies and Lilliputians. Debbie said "Penel has some amazing work, in a variety of styles and media. Chalford is a great place to appreciate the wide variety of artist we have locally. This is well worth a visit next weekend"
The General Election 2015 is finally over, the votes were counted well into the night at Stratford Park Leisure Centre to produce a Conservative victory in the Stroud Constituency, the local elections and nationally
During the campaign, many high profile visitors came to Stroud to help campaign and Debbie met with many of them. Debbie said " as well as familiar faces it was lovely to see people who I normally only talk to on Twitter, such as Lord Courtown and his fellow peer Lord Liverpool" One of the wonderful things about being in politics is the access it gives you to do things for other people. Debbie been really fortunate over the years to be able to take the Year 6 children from her daughters school to the House of Commons and this year was not exception. The school was joined by Neil Carmichael MP as they left for their trip to London. Debbie said " it was lovely to see the children's faces when they first left the Tube at Westminster and saw Big Ben, we had a tour of the House of Lords and learnt the history of Central Lobby. it was an amazing experience for the children" After the visit around the Palace and a picnic lunch, the children went up to Buckingham Palace via Horseguards where they saw the guards changing
