Summer Fairs

Today Debbie went to the Bussage Primary School Fete with her daughter Samantha. Having won two can of Carlsberg Lager and a bottle of tomato sauce on the RSPCA  tombola and lunched on hot dogs and ice cream, they sat down with friends to watch the football competition.

Debbie said "I love fetes and fairs and this was great and I am so pleased there was good weather. I met so many of my friends it was fantastic and an excellent idea to combine it with the football competition"

Our Great Local College

Debbie went with Chas Fellows her fellow Conservative Council colleague, to South Gloucestershire and Stroud College prize giving today.
As well as giving prizes to some outstanding students, Debbie and Chas were treated to some amazing dancing from the Performing Arts students. They also saw Beri Hare, a previous principal and Rob Rees, The Cotswold Chef receive their Honorary Fellowships of the College. Satisfaction and achievement levels put the College in the top 10 of Further Education providers

Supporting Local Businesses

One of the most important roles of a Councillor is to support local jobs.

Debbie visited Wire Works at Hallidays Mill to see the amazing work there. This is fast becoming a hub of local entrepreneurs and artisans and is well worth a visit

Debbie said "There are some amazing local  artisans here making wired work, mosaics and a photography  studio, this is becoming a real artists centre and then there is Lavender Bakehouse opposite to provide fabulous teas and cakes

Great Stroud Bake Off

This is the logo for the Great Stroud Bake Off in aid of the British Heart Foundation. A group including Debbie have got together to arrange a bake off that will result in someone winning a new Neff oven or going on an Artisan Bakers course.

​All proceeds will go the British Heart Foundation

One of the jobs of a District Councillor is to make a monthly report to the Parish Council. Debbie is here with Chas Fellows at the June Meeting of the Parish Council. Debbie spoke about her work on the replacement of the bollards on Old Common, whilst Chas spoke about new plans for a cycle way from Chalford into Stroud.

​Together with Liz Peters the third Conservative Councillor,they answered questions particularly about their donations to charity following the 8.3% pay rise that the ruling alliance granted themselves and that the Conservative Group are giving to charity.

Great Stroud Bake Off

This is the cooker that someone could win as part of the Great Stroud Bake Off. This will be the prize for the overall winner of the competition, donated by John Kerry's of Stonehouse.

​There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category of bread, cakes, pastries, healthy heart and a childrens competition for cup cakes. The top entrant in each category will go forward to win the top prize
Debbie said " There is a core group working on this Crockett Cresswell and Sarah Holder have done an amazing job on developing the logo and now a website. Ginny Smart and Kate Williams Brown are working hard on prizes and judges. It is a great concept and we are getting fabulous results.
