The canal in Chalford is a lovely feature for walkers with its towpath and historic buildings. 7 years ago it was a different story when serious floods caused the canal to over top and flood the iconic Round House and narrowly avoid Damien Hursts property a grade 1* listed building. Councillor Chas Fellows worked his magic with bureaucracy to get the pond at the Round House cleared. Over time the canal has again become silted up, with large amounts of weed and reed which have slowed the flow to a trickle and causing a flooding risk yet again. Working with Steve Pickover from the Cotswold Canal Trust, Debbie has helped to reduce this risk. By employing an amphibious vehicle to clear the channel the nearby houses are safe from flooding thanks to funding from the County Council and help from Chalford Parish Councils.
