Community Covenants are voluntary statements of mutual support between civilian communities and their local Armed Forces community. This will give access to £30 million of Government funding for projects that will benefit both the civilian community and Armed Forces in terms of mutual understanding.
Although there are no Garrisons within the Stroud area, many local residents serve in the forces or work at local bases in Gloucester and Cirencester. As well as that there are Army Cadets in Stonehouse and Sea Cadets in Stroud, combined with active British Legions branches in Dursley, Stroud and Stonehouse and the Aden Veterans Association, who Debbie also supports.
Debbie visited the Royal British Legion Fringe event in October at the Conservative Party Conference as well as packing treat parcels for those currently serving in Afghanistan.
